There are two jazz bands within the Hillwood Middle School Band Program – Jazz Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble. The jazz bands function to further supplement the class band instruction and are performance driven. Student participation in a jazz band is completely voluntary as all rehearsals are either before or after school. The jazz bands will perform in HMS pep rallies, HMS band concerts, jazz festivals, and other community events.
The Jazz Orchestra is under the direction of Mr. Jonathan Woodrow and is comprised mostly of eighth grade students. This ensemble performs grade 2-4 literature and is competitive at the highest levels.
