Trombonist Austin Andrade is among many young up and coming musicians who loves to perform in many different styles such as jazz, pop, and classical, and teach. He received his
Bachelor in Music from Texas Christian University and received a Masters in Music- Trombone Performance from Southern Methodist University. Included in his studies have been many
masterclasses and trombone workshops.
During Mr. Andrade's time at TCU, he performed with the TCU Wind Symphony, TCU Symphony Orchestra, TCU Jazz Band, and TCU Trombone Choir. Within these groups, he has had the honor of performing at the Texas Music Educators Association conference in both 2020 and 2021 with the TCU Wind Symphony and Jazz band, CBDNA performance in Tucson, Arizona with the TCU Wind Symphony. Mr. Andrade is also involved in a brass quintet at TCU named Metro Brass. Metro Brass regularly gigs around the Dallas-Fort Worth area at weddings and churches.
Austin Andrade attended the 2020 American Trombone Workshop where he got the honor of playing in a masterclass held by Jeremy Wilson, Associate Director of Trombone at Vanderbilt University, and performed with the TCU Trombone Choir featuring Peter Steiner during one of the prime time hours. Other notable masterclasses in which he performed include Andy Martin, Amanda Hudson, Chris Davis, John Kitzman, and Scott Hartman.
Andrade started studying music in the sixth grade, becoming serious about music in high school
after receiving Texas All-State honors in 2017 and 2018. His teachers have included John Scanlon, Joel Chavarria, Dr. David Begnoche, and Barry Hearn.
Today, Mr. Andrade is studying with Principal Trombonist of the Dallas Symphony Barry Hearn. Andrade is involved in the Meadows Wind Ensemble, Meadows Symphony Orchestra, SMU Trombone Choir, Sysygi (A new music ensemble), and has subbed with professional orchestras, such as, the Mckinney Philharmonic and San Angelo Symphony. During the summer of 2024, Andrade attended the Round Top Music Festival where he got to learn from trombonists John Kitzman, Brent Phillips, Hana Beloglavec, and R. Ben Osborne while performing in an orchestra for 6 weeks. In his free time, Andrade likes to play pickleball, baseball, and basketball and loves to talk about sports.
